In its second year, nearly 25,000 teachers participated in Digital Learning Day 2013 and all 50 states and the District of Columbia made plans to host statewide celebrations. The National Town Hall again featured education leaders and advocates, including U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park, and U.S. Representative George Miller (D-CA).
To encourage meaningful discussions about practice, the National Town Hall featured live interviews and conversations with teacher leaders using technology in innovating ways. Experienced teachers were also enlisted to develop sample lesson ideas for school-based Digital Learning Day activities and to engage in professional learning sessions around problem-based learning, flipped classrooms, mobile devices, and revitalizing assessment.
