Students select a famous literary poem by a published author OR write their own original lyrical poem of sonnet length. Then, using the Windows PhotoStory program, students sync images and music with the poem that capture the author's intent.
Biomes and Ecoregions

Students create informative presentations about specific ecoregions and biomes that summarize the information they learn over the course of six weeks of study. The student presentations are created using digital tools like Glogster, Prezi or Photo Story.
Silent Movies & Nonverbal Communication

Using digital tools, students can better understand how to convey a message without talking. In this lesson, students learn the importance of nonverbal communication by planning, filming, and editing a silent movie. Necessary resources include a video camera, laptops, and Movie Maker.
Successful Student Book Review Blogging

Persuasive Multi-Genre Research Project

Explore Local Habitats with Student-Created Rovers

This is a long-term STEM problem-based unit using HS Environmental Science students to teach the content they are discovering about ecosystems and human impact on the environment to a class of first graders. External funding was also used to add the element of “maker” education into the unit.

Can You Teach A Computer to Beat You at a Strategy Game?

Students will create a computer program using Scratch understand and communicate mathematical reasoning to others and through computer code. Students will also learn how to use games as applications of mathematical problems solving skills.
In this Educurious mini-unit, students use evidence from the text to infer what series of events might have led to the fictional world in the popular Hunger Games novels. Students use primary source research documents to support their analysis about how we can avoid a similar path in our world.
This BCPS Online Research Model (ORM) was designed for a Grade 11 English Language Arts unit on 18th century foundational U.S. documents of historical and literary significance. Students use the ORMs in order to answer the question: How would a Founding Father respond to a contemporary American issue?
